Transparency or “right-to-know” is a fundamental concept in protecting public health against exposures to toxic chemicals. It refers to the consumer’s or the public’s right to know about what is in the products they use or that are being released into their environment.

The first presentation covers product ingredient disclosure and its importance in chemical legislation reforms, including key issues related to designing an ingredient disclosure policy.

The second presentation picks up the question of how to store and manage information from ingredient disclosure. Several models with regional collaboration approaches are presented, and suggestions made by NRDC for what they think could be solutions for Africa.
