Different guidance and guideline documents on safe chemicals and waste management:

SAICM Emerging Policy Issues and Other Issues of Concern

One of the functions of the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM) as identified in the SAICM Overarching Policy Strategy (paragragh 24.j) is to call for appropriate action on emerging policy issues as they arise and to forge consensus on priorities for cooperative action.

So far resolutions have been adopted on the following eight emerging policy issues and other issues of concern at ICCM2, ICCM3 and / or ICCM4:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling and applying pesticides.

Guidelines for personal protection when handling and applying pesticides by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations World Health Organization.

Plastic Waste Transparency Project:

Basel Action Network’s mission is to end toxic trade, catalyze a toxics-free future, and campaign for everyone’s right to a clean environment. It works with three principal streams of toxic waste, one of which is plastics.

KEMI training

During the period 2018–2022, the Swedish Chemicals Agency will organise and run the International Capacity Development Programme “Developing Strategies for National Chemicals Management”. The programme is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

KEMI helpdesk

The Swedish Chemicals Agency can offer advice on issues regarding establishment of national chemicals control to countries qualified for development aid according to OECD/DAC.
